Ricoh receives INGEDE certification and announces a carbon neutral drupa

Dusseldorf, drupa 03-16 May 2012, Hall 8a - Ricoh Europe PLC announces two key activities to enhance its commitment to the environment.   Ricoh clients can now promote a more sustainable printing service through Ricoh’s achievement of the International Association of the Deinking Industry (INGEDE) certification. The accreditation was awarded to the Ricoh digital colour cut-sheet printing press portfolio and confirms that toner from these Ricoh systems can be removed from paper during the recycling process.  Also, the company has announced that all printing activity at drupa 2012 will be carbon neutral as a result of using the Ricoh Carbon Balanced Printing Programme

The Ricoh Pro™ C901 Graphic Arts Edition and Pro™ C651 and Pro™ C751 presses have all met the required criteria set by the European Recovered Paper Council (ERPC) regarding the removal of printing ink from recovered paper during the paper recycling process. This allows paper mills to recycle recovered output from Ricoh colour production systems and reduces the generation of waste into the environment.

“We are continually looking for ways to help our clients reduce the environmental impact of Ricoh production presses at their sites. Now that Ricoh toners from our digital colour cut-sheet presses can be successfully deinked, we are helping them to reduce the environmental impact of paper production and provide a more responsible service for their customers,” comments Graham Moore, Business Development Director for Ricoh Europe''s Production Printing Business Group.

Also, by using its Carbon Balanced Printing Programme and recycling initiatives Ricoh is ensuring that it can neutralise carbon emissions generated from printing activity on its stand at drupa 2012. The Carbon Balanced Printing Programme is designed specifically for print service providers to reduce their environmental impacts when using Ricoh’s digital production printing systems, and offer a carbon neutral service to their clients.   Ricoh will be using mostly 100% recycled paper at drupa and any waste will be collected by paper manufacturing partner Arjowiggins Graphic for recycling after the exhibition.

“We believe this type of dedication to environmental sustainability is critical to the future of our industry and our planet, and Ricoh is at the forefront of providing the tools, services and certified products that make an environmentally responsible printing business easier to achieve than ever before. With this initiative, we are ensuring that all used paper is recycled and fed back into the production chain,” saysMoore.

Ricoh will be at drupa 2012,Dusseldorf,Germanyin Hall 8a 3-16 May.
