The Furniture of the Year is made of Koskisen birch veneers
The Finnish Furniture of The Year 2009 was selected the Ellipse chair, designed by architect Timo Ripatti. The oval-shaped chair is made entirely of Koskisen’s birch veneers.
The jury, built up from decoration architects, said that Ripatti’s design represents the uncompromising nature of the designer, self-confidence and vision-to-date. Ellipse is an object of a three-dimensional graphic and sculpturally balanced. The chair dimensions have been considered carefully, and details have been resolved with sure guidance.
The Ellipse chair has been form pressed by the company Formesa that has been in collaboration with Koskisen Birch Products, Vilkon Oy, since the 1980s. Concentrated mainly on the form pressing different furniture parts, the subcontracting company buys all its birch veneers from Koskisen.
– Vilkon delivery times are short. The product prices and quality are excellent, one of the owners of a family company Formesa, Rami Aaltonen, praises.
