Farnell wins prestigious ‘European Distributor of the Year’ category at the 2009 Elektra Awards held in London
Farnell, the leading multi-channel distributor, has won the coveted Distributor of the Year Award at the Elektra 09 European Electronics Industry Awards held in London on 1st December. Held annually and attended by key figures and representatives from across the electronics industry, the Elektra awards recognise performance, innovation and achievement in 18 categories.
Selected from a shortlist of five, the judges highlighted Farnell’s innovative use of the Internet as a key factor in the company’s success. During the last 12-months Farnell has introduced a significant number of features to increase the speed and breadth of search of its website. The company has also launched an innovative social networking community called element14 that has become recognised across the industry as a highly valuable resource and tool for engineers. element14 is an online community that uses Web 2.0 technology to create a unique, multi-lingual environment where design engineers can access the latest technology solutions, tools, software and information. element14 also enables customers to consult industry experts from leading manufacturers to learn about the latest trends and developments via forums, articles and blogs whilst sharing information and collaborating with other electronic design engineers globally.
