PolyOne opens new design center in France

Prototype center creates new packaging development opportunities

PolyOne Corporation (NYSE: POL) today announced the opening of a specialized color design center in Cergy, outside of Paris, France. This is the second design center that PolyOne has opened in Europe this year.

The Cergy design center specializes in serving the European packaging market, and features state-of-the-art equipment developed to replicate actual manufacturing conditions. The new design center facilitates faster, more efficient new product introductions.

PolyOne’s two European color design centers have complementary capabilities. The first European design center, opened in Assesse, Belgium in April 2007, includes PET processing capabilities and offers pre-form injection and blow molding prototyping. The Cergy facility helps validate the compatibility of additives and color solutions primarily for polyolefins. The new center has both a bi-layer blow molding line and a multi-layer cast film line.

“With this latest color design center, PolyOne is able to provide an advantage for packaging designers and converters that goes far beyond simply matching colors and providing products,” said Bernard Baert, PolyOne senior vice president and general manager, International Color and Engineered Materials, Europe and Asia. “These two European facilities exemplify PolyOne’s commitment to deliver specialized services and solutions that create value for customers by helping them bridge the gap between concept and production.”

According to Christoph Palm, PolyOne general manager of Color and Additives in Europe, “Through the resources of our new design center, we help our customers understand both color and polymer technology in an environment that stimulates creativity and innovation. By prototyping on production-like machines, our customers will have the capability to develop unique products more quickly and efficiently than ever before.”
