Ericsson and Arima extend cooperation and sign license agreements for WCDMA/HSDPA platforms

Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) and Arima Communications Corporation have signed license agreements for the U310 and U360 mobile platforms, supplied by Ericsson Mobile Platforms. The U310 and U360 are the most powerful multimedia platforms on the market for true mass-market deployment of WCDMA and HSDPA today.

Robert Puskaric, head of Ericsson Mobile Platforms, says: "We are very happy that Arima has chosen the U310 and U360 platforms from Ericsson. U360 is the smallest and most powerful 3.6Mbps HSDPA solution on the market today and U310 is a true multimedia platform for mass-market WCDMA deployment. With our solutions, Arima will be able to bring very attractive mobile phones to the market."

The U310 and U360 are mobile platforms designed with a strong focus on size, cost and performance. The U310 platform is an EDGE/WCDMA multimedia platform with quad-band EDGE and triple-band WCDMA. The U360 platform is an EDGE/WCDMA/HSDPA platform with quad-band EDGE as well as triple-band HSDPA capabilities.

Owen Chen, President of Arima Communications Corporation, says: "We are very happy to continue our successful cooperation with Ericsson Mobile Platforms. The U310 and U360 platforms are the most powerful and cost effective WCDMA and HSDPA platforms on the market today. The platforms provide advanced features in a very compact size and with high performance. Also, because we've worked with Ericsson Mobile Platforms before, we will be able to reuse our applications across the platforms."

With the license agreement, Ericsson and Arima will combine Ericsson's industry-leading WCDMA/HSDPA platform technology and Arima's full-range of vertically integrated core technologies to design, manufacture and deliver state-of-the-art solutions.
