Clavister wins Network Computing’s unified threat management product performance review
IP-based security and unified threat management (UTM) specialist, Clavister has won Network Computing’s comparative review of UTM products for small and medium-sized companies. Real-World Labs compared six leading vendors’ solutions on behalf of German magazine Network Computing.
The test compared the throughput speeds with the web filters and antivirus turned on, and Clavister’s SG3210 out-performed its nearest competitor by three times and the average of all the participants by ten.
Real-World Labs simulated an environment with 100 users, creating ten inquiries every 10,000 bytes per TCP connection. The review tested, among other criteria, the maximum throughput speeds in the UTM systems when http traffic was analysed by web and antivirus filters. Clavister’s SG3210 out-performed its competitors with a throughput speed of 89,749 transactions and 115 Mbps antivirus throughput capacity.
Andreas Åsander, VP Product Management, Clavister. “Today’s businesses are faced with multiple threats, both internal and external sources, and need to ensure they have adequate protection. More and more are deploying UTM solutions and this test clearly shows that unlike other UTM systems on the market, our security solutions do not create bottlenecks on the networks, not even when scanning for viruses.”

About Clavister Security Gateway 3210
Clavister Security Gateway 3210 is meant for small and medium-sized businesses, and is the smallest member of the company’s 3200 family. It’s based on a hardware platform with six gigabit Ethernet ports. Models in the product family differ by performance and capacity. All models offer the same range of security functions and connections, including firewall, VPN, intrusion detection and prevention, virus and spam protection, content filtering, clustering for high accessibility, and traffic management.
The 3200 family also offers unequalled investment protection. Performance as well as functionality can be extended with a digital license. This means customers do not have to compromise on functionality to save on costs. The general throughput capacity of the Clavister SG3210 is set at 350 Mbps but can easily be upgraded to 1,000 Mbps with a license and without making any changes to the hardware.
