PolyOne to showcase packaging solutions at the Salon de l’Emballage 2008

PolyOne Corporation (NYSE: POL) will be exhibiting its latest colorants, additives, compounds, services and solutions at the Salon de l’Emballage 2008 exhibition (PolyOne: Hall 6 Stand G 137) November 17-21, 2008 in Paris, France.

PolyOne products being featured at the Salon de l’Emballage 2008 include:

• Special effect colorants in liquid and solid form – molded-in color effects that create unique appearances
• Functional additives – additive concentrates that improve process or end-part performance
• Bio-based materials and additives – color and additive concentrates and compounds suitable for use in Biopolymer applications

Custom grades for specific application and processing targets will also be featured. To meet environmental requirements, pre-colored grades are made without the use of cadmium.

Other new developments that the Company will present include:

Customer-focused products that meet application-specific needs
• PicoTint™ Liquid Colorants, ideal for use with clear thermoplastic engineering resins, defy streaks and swirls. These patent-pending solutions for PC, PMMA, SAN, ABS, PETG and terpolymers feature a polymer-based carrier for increased heat and light stability, enhanced weathering, and an extended shelf life. In addition, PolyOne’s OnColor™ liquid colorants are ideal for use in PET bottles and sheet extrusion.

• OnCap™ Masterbatches dedicated to biaxially oriented films. PolyOne is offering a range of masterbatches for biaxially oriented films, BOPP, BOPA, and BOPET. For BOPP films, PolyOne has developed a modifier to improve the appearance and increase the film stiffness. This modifier reduces the film thickness, improves the stretching behavior and allows processing at a lower temperature, thus creating a larger operating window for stretching.

• OnCap™ Permanent and Non-Migrating Antistatic Masterbatches for long-term antistatic, anti-dust effects to be used in flexible and rigid packaging, as well as for safe handling of packaged goods.

A sustainable future is at hand
• OnCap™ BIO Anti-fog Additive Concentrate, based on 100% renewable resources, reduces fog formation on the surface of transparent plastic packaging when packaged products are stored in cold areas and improves their shelf appearance.

• OnCap™ BIO Impact T Transparent Impact Modifier Masterbatch for polylactic acid (PLA) increases the impact resistance of the base polymer while maintaining transparency.

• PHBV (polyhydroxybutyrate-valerate copolymer) based Biopolymer compounds provide excellent heat and chemical resistance performance. Design Ideas Ltd., a world-leading innovator in home and office accessories, uses these materials to make its EcoGen bathroom accessories.
