PolyOne introduces line of RoHS compliant Maxxam™ FR flame-retardant polypropylene compounds

PolyOne Corporation (NYSE: POL), a premier provider of specialized polymer materials, services, and solutions, introduces its Maxxam™ FR – flame-retardant polypropylene compounds engineered to meet RoHS directives, further environmental legislation, and stringent flammability requirements.

These new PP grades blend toughness and chemical resistance with low moisture absorption and improved mechanical and impact properties to deliver a beneficial cost performance ratio. They are suited to a wide range of applications and markets, including electronics, consumer durables, wire & cable, and transportation.

From a processing perspective, the resins are available in compound and masterbatch forms in a broad range of custom colors and feature excellent processability in injection molding, extrusion, and blow molding. To meet environmental and RoHS objectives, the Maxxam FR product line includes low-halogen and halogen-free grades.

Like all PolyOne solutions, Maxxam FR compounds conform to our No Surprises PledgeSM, PolyOne’s commitment to delivering safe, environmentally sound solutions and a promise that the materials PolyOne produces contain only ingredients that conform to accepted legal and regulatory guidelines.

Bernard Baert, senior vice president and general manager, Colors and Engineered Materials, Europe and Asia, points out: “Our developments aim at ever-cleaner and more efficient solutions. Maxxam FR compounds are a good example of how our customized solutions meet our customers’ growing global demand for products with low environmental impact.”
