A fuel cell for all possible industrial applications

With the new Pro Series from EFOY the German company SFC has now produced a fuel cell for all possible industrial applications. ”We have kept this very quiet”, Michael Nielsen from the company Multiplex, who is the distributor of SFC, explains. ”We know from experience that launching of new products may include delays, especially concerning complicated products as the fuel cells, however, this has not been the case with SFC and the new Pro series. As a market leader in fuel cell technologies, SFC has redeveloped the existing fuel cell, which is well known on the leisure market. SFC produced their first commercially available fuel cell back in year 2002, and the great experience that follows from manufacturing these many fuel cells, has, without question, come in useful. This is one of the secrets behind the success of SFC, but also a very important issue is the professionalism of the manufacturer. SFC wants to be first and best, and this is shown very clearly in their products and handling of products.

The appreciable differences between the Pro Series and leisure models are as follows:

• Lower consumption per kWh, thus you get more energy from the methanol cartridges.
• One large 28l cartridge can be connected, with an energy of 31,1 kWh.
• Longer exhaust hose between fuel cell and cartridge increases the installation possibilities.
• Now – the same unit can charge either 12V or 24V batteries.
• Robust housing that can be mounted in harsh environments.
• Longlife model has improved lifetime – both concerning hours of consumption and lifetime.
• Prepared for connecting solar panels.
• A metal box (extra equipment) especially prepared for Pro for outdoor applications.

Michael explains, ”for many years we have been working towards the industry and this market has profitably several possibilities for the use of fuel cells. With the EFOY Pro, we can supply a bigger demand for the industrial market. A fuel cell, which is rapidly repaid and saves you money afterwards, these are strong arguments, not only for the environment, but also concerning the bottom line and competitive power of our customers.”

The environmentally compatible side effect is also an issue. More and more companies today have an environmental plan and object. With a fuel cell the company gets a piece of the environmental wonder of the future, and furthermore they make a statement to the outside world that they are interested in keeping the environment and supportive to the development of alternative energy sources.

A further benefit for the company, in addition to a clear conscience, could be to use the ”environmentally compatible machinery” for marketing purposes. In a time, where environment is on everybody’s lips, this could be an issue, that separates the environmental thinking companies from the crowd.

All applications that are not able to or have problems being connected to a grid connection, are evident for a fuel cell solution. According to our experience we can easily estimate, if this will be a profitable solution for the company. In most cases – it is, which we can underline with the increased sale of our fuel cells today.
